How it works under workers compensation
Vocational assessment sits inside the scheme's return-to-work sequence. First we confirm what safe, suitable work looks like against the certificate of capacity from your nominated treating doctor. Then we map your work history, qualifications and transferable skills to roles you could realistically do now, and test those roles against real demand through labour-market analysis. Where the pre-injury employer cannot offer suitable duties, the focus shifts to a new employer: structured job seeking, resume and interview preparation, and work trials or host placements. Every service is pre-approved by the insurer or scheme agent before it is delivered, and each stage is reported back so the claim keeps moving. Suitable duties and goals stay matched to what the treating doctor certifies as your capacity changes.
Who refers and who funds
A referral can come from the workers compensation insurer or scheme agent, the case manager, the employer, or the nominated treating doctor. It can also come from you: under the NSW workers compensation scheme you have the right to nominate your own workplace rehabilitation provider, and you can name Nexus Rehab at any stage of your claim. That right is yours — it includes us, and it includes any other approved provider. The insurer or scheme agent funds approved vocational and job-seeking services; for the worker that means nothing out of pocket, because the insurer pays for approved services under the scheme. We confirm approval and funding before any stage begins, so there are no surprise invoices.
What the report and plan give you
